Dimensions
Analysis
Although the mining business is one of the main resources for WA, it has fallen from 30% to 12%. Since 2008 electricity prices have increased by 60%, gas prices risen to 70% with education also going up to 30%
Effects
Many citizens have been affected by this issue especially the lowest paid. They have struggled to sustain themselves and some of them have lived in poverty as a result with spatial inequality rising. The middle class have also had problems with their living standards going lower. In some areas, Western Australia youth's unemployment is at 30% and rising. People in the mining business have been able to support themselves but ordinary people have found it hard.
How can the problem be solved?
The Australian government has released an Aid Program to help overcome poverty and inequality. This problem can be solved by improving people's incomes and making more job opportunities for poorer people. The Australian Aid program also gives poorer people better access to clean water, gender equality for women (giving women more leadership, making sure more girls go to school) and helping the unemployed.
